Welcome to Dr. Jandelyn Plane, New Associate Director of ACES
Dr. Jandelyn Plane has been named the Associate Director of the Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) program, the nation’s first undergraduate honors program in cybersecurity, representing an innovative new model for cybersecurity education.
Plane currently serves as Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and will continue to hold that title in addition to being Associate Director in ACES. Her experience in the Computer Science Department instructing courses and advising students will prove invaluable for guiding and empowering the ACES students to achieve their aspirations.
Plane is committed to increasing the participation of young women and underrepresented minorities in computer science and has taken on numerous leadership roles in national and international initiatives dedicated to this goal.
As the coordinator for a research project between the Center for International Development and Conflict Management of the University of Maryland, College Park and the National University of Rwanda, Plane designed curriculum and graduation requirements for their new computer science program and taught computer science courses. She later participated in a similar program working with the Center to Bridge the Digital Divide at Washington State University to rebuild the computer science program at Kabul University in Afghanistan. She has also worked with faculty from several African universities on computer science content and teaching methods.
Plane has been instrumental in creating the ACES I and ACES II course curriculums and defining the program vision. ACES and the Honors College are excited to have Dr. Plane as a member of the team and look forward to benefiting from her valuable experiences and incredible leadership!
