Jonathan Katz, a professor of computer science and director of the Maryland Cybersecurity Center, recently received the Humboldt Research Award for his achievements in computer science and cybersecurity.

The award is granted in recognition of a researcher's entire achievements to date. It recognizes researchers whose fundamental discoveries, new theories or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline, and who are expected to continue producing these same type of stellar achievements in the future.

Award winners are invited to collaborate on a long-term research project with colleagues at a research institution in Germany. Katz will collaborate with Michael Backes and Dominique Schroeder at Saarland University.
