BACKGROUND

Alan Liu is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science with a joint appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. He is a core faculty member in the Maryland Cybersecurity Center. 

Liu's research focuses on systems, networking and applied algorithms. His interests extend beyond theory to practical implementations that yield tangible benefits. Liu aims to make a positive impact on computer network systems by developing resource-efficient, next-generation data centers capable of processing extensive data.

He received his doctorate in computer science from Johns Hopkins University in 2019.
