Program Overview


Cyber Defense Training Camp is an intermediate level* 7 day residential summer program for high school men and women (rising juniors and seniors). You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of cybersecurity and gain practical skills through instruction by an experienced security professional. Students learn about the field, take at least one field trip and hear from a variety of speakers to learn more about how to prepare to enter this exciting profession.

*Technical experience is recommended, including networking, Cisco Academy, and/or Java programming.

  • Operating Systems
  • System Administration
  • Networking
  • Programming

 Also: Guest speakers, Field trip, Cyber defense exercise, and Computer-based "Capture-the-flag" competition at the end of the week.


The cost of the program is $1000. This fee covers housing in a UMD dormitory, all meals, transportation to field trips and recreational activities. Please do not include the fee at the time of application. The fee is due upon acceptance to the program. Aftercare will be provided for an additional fee; details coming soon.
