The Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) helps educate the future cybersecurity workforce to serve industry, academia and government needs.
We currently support more than 35 graduate students in the Department of Computer Science (CS) and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). MC2 is closely tied to the Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) program in the Honors College.
MC2 faculty and students are involved with the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion & Diversity in Computing. This includes K–12 outreach programs and summer academies in security and privacy.

Our faculty support the UMD Cybersecurity Club, a student-run organization that regularly hosts technical and non-technical talks, hands-on workshops, and participates in national cybersecurity capture the flag (CTF) contests.
In 2022, the University of Maryland joined the U.S. Cyber Command’s Academic Engagement Network, a new initiative to increase the nation’s cybersecurity and workforce development capabilities.
